Farming in ancient Rome was the job of a slave. Farming back in those years used much more effort than farming of today, so people who weren't very important got the tiring job.
To turn the soil over a plough was used, but the plough was made out of a long stick pulled by an ox. Each seed was then planted by hand.
When fully grown and picked, the wheat wouldn't go through a single machine that went through a quick process to turn wheat into flour, the wheat had to be beaten, then tossed to remove the chaff, then dried, then ground, and finally it had to be transported. It took a lot of time compared to our speeds we work at today.
This is my LA task. The information on the pages featured on this blog I wrote myself using evidence from other websites, books and my own opinions.

Temperatures and plants
To the left is a climograph showing the rainfall and temperatures of Rome, a town in Italy. It also shows the latitude, longitude and altitude of Rome. This gives an idea of what the climate in ancient Rome might have been like.
In those conditions grain, olives and grapes were the most commonly grown crops.
There were also many different types of flowers that grew depending on the season. Many different types of trees scatter the land, too, and still do.
Usage of land in ancient Rome
People in Rome used the land to build many different buildings, to plant crops, to farm and to travel (by using roads).
• Romans built churches, temples, houses etc., but they also built some special places like the colosseum.
• Farming was an occupation and crops were planted to feed the cities and towns.
• Roads were formed so as travelling was made easier.
These uses of land were featured in Ancient Rome to make life easier to live and to cope with, apart from churches and temples which were a place of religion and belief.
Below are some different buildings that were originally around in ancient Rome

Interesting ancient Rome facts
Ancient Rome was formed around the 10th century BC, but in 753 BC (according to legend) it was founded by brothers Romulus and Remus. It started as a small village in Italy, but over many years Rome grew bigger and started taking up more land.
The history of Rome is usually separated into three parts; before the rise of Rome, the Roman republic and the Roman empire.

Countries that formed ancient Rome
Ancient Rome was made up of the following modern-day countries
England, France, Spain, Portugal, Mauritania, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Malta, Cyprus, Egypt, Israel, Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan, some parts of Russia, Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, Austria, Germany and Italy.
There were possibly even more countries that made up ancient Rome, since there may have been even more countries back in those days.
